WOMEN’S DAY OVERVIEW

The Women’s Day Co-Chairs, Rosa Murray and Dee Lewis met with a group of interested and committed members of the Grace Baptist Church to plan and ask for input from them for the 2010 Women’s Day.

Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Lewis gave an overview of their hopes

For the 2010 Women’s Day.  A brief history of our former Women’s Days and a discussion of both positive and negative elements ensued.

The prevailing theme was as strong women of Grace we need to emphasize working together for the glory of God.

The co-chairs met with former chairs of Women’s Day at Grace to lay a foundation and build from their knowledge.  One priority that was mentioned was that we strive to work on a truly intergenerational Women’s Day.  This will entail making sure that women of all ages will be involved in some manner to ensure a successful day.

Three names were brought forward for consideration of a speaker.  Rev. Shearer, Rev. Suzann Johnson-Cook, and Rev. Churn.  Rev. Shearer was a consideration for the 2009 speaker at Grace however scheduling conflicts prevented her from speaking.  A discussion was initiated regarding credentials and qualifications for speakers. After much discussion a vote was taken to send forward the names of Rev. Cook and Rev. Shearer to Rev. Curtis.

One of the goals for Women’s Day 2010 is to utilize the GBC website which will keep open the lines of communication regarding events that are upcoming and overviews from each meeting.

We will also strive to attend as many Women’s Day celebrations at our area churches and include young people in the group that attends

Our next meeting will be on April 19 at 6pm in the MLK Hall. Come prepared to work on setting our theme along with a Bible verse.  Bring  your thoughts and ideas for Women’s Day 2010.  Women of Grace we need you!!
