Rev. Dr. Lindsay E. Curtis

A Chicago, Illinois native and who comes from a long lineage of Ministerial and Pastoral service. Licensed to preach in 1973 by the Union Baptist Church of Springfield, Ill. and ordained in 1979 by a council of the Woodriver District Association, an affiliate of the Illinois Baptist General State Convention. He has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Illinois. Pastor Curtis has matriculated at the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, Moody Bible College, and the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA. Has received numerous educational certificates and certifications in his 48-year ministerial career of which a major highlight was when he received a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Eastern Theological Seminary.

 

From 1990-1994 he served the St. Paul Baptist Church in Terre Haute, Indiana as her 12th Pastor. Currently he is in his 20th year as the Pastor of the historic 129-year old Grace Baptist Church in Norwalk, CT. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and Pastor Curtis’ leadership the Grace Baptist is experiencing significant spiritual and numerical growth. To-date over $500,000 in renovations, inclusive of a new HVAC system, state of the art audio/video along with renovations to the sanctuary and adjacent church property. Under Pastor Curtis guidance the church retired the $1.4 million mortgage on the adjacent properties, which currently has left the church debt free. Grace Baptist is in the heart of the city, with a heart for the city.

 

He has held various corporate positions; Vice President, Human Resources (HR) at Universal/NBC, Music Division, East Coast Region based in New York City.  He has also held senior HR positions in the global accounting and consulting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the Dun & Bradstreet Corporation and the Illinois Department of Revenue.

 

His mission field has expanded to various global locations, inclusive of the island of Jamaica, Africa (Malawi and South Africa), a Multi-Religious trip to Israel. His religious and community affiliations are extensive as he is the President of the Connecticut State Missionary Baptist Convention. Serves as a Commissioner on the Judicial Selection Commission, State of Connecticut. Chaplin to the Norwalk Fire Department and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Directors for Norwalk ACTS which is a diverse partnership of over 100 civic leaders, educators and organizations striving for a better education for all children of Norwalk. Board Member of the Urban League of Southern CT. Past-President of the Norwalk Branch of the NAACP. An Advocate for Equity and Fairness in Educational Funding, having testified numerous time before various Legislative Committees. Served on the State of Connecticut’s Legislative Achievement Gap Commission/Task Force. He is the husband of Janis (Richardson) Curtis, the father of three daughters, two sons and eight grandchildren.
